About Maya

Originally from Saint Augustine, Florida, Maya is an actor, scenic designer, writer, and illustrator based in New York City. 

 

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from Columbia University with a B.A. in Drama & Theatre Arts (acting focus) alongside studies in English & Comparative Literature.

 

As an actor, Maya fell in love with the creativity and collaboration of theatrical storytelling at an early age. Favorite recent stage credits include Sarah Ruhl's adaptation of Virginia Woolf's Orlando (Orlando), Bard Overboard (Emma), Much Ado About Nothing (Beatrice), and For Molly (One). Maya has worked on several independent short films and performed in world premiere works at New York theatres such as Clubbed Thumb and SoHo Playhouse (Off-Broadway)---more to come! In addition to performing, Maya is also a budding scenic designer.  She was awarded the Dasha Amsterdam Epstein Prize in Design and Production by the Barnard College Theatre Department. Her upcoming design projects will open at La Mama, SoHo Rep, and the Beckmann Theater this spring. Check out her portfolio here!

 

A lifelong visual artist and writer, Maya served as an illustrator and staff writer for The Blue & White Magazine at Columbia. She does commissions for anyone in need of a gift, decoration, or creative project. Other writing endeavors include plays and short fiction.
